Tent Removal and Ideas for Permanent Outdoor Spaces
KU Operations will remove the tent in front of Stauffer-Flint this month to accommodate a landscaping project. The tent was originally installed to provide an outdoor study space during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tents installed on campus during that time served their purpose well by giving students, faculty and staff outdoor options for studying and social distancing.
We encourage students, faculty and staff to provide ideas and feedback on permanent outdoor study spaces they would like to see included in KU's 2024 Campus Master Plan. The Campus Master Plan will help define the future of KU and ensure the physical campus supports and advances the three priorities set forth in our Jayhawks Rising strategic plan. It is being developed through extensive collaboration, consultation and thoughtful input from all campus stakeholders.
The Campus Master Plan process includes meetings, focus groups, interviews and community forums involving hundreds of people, as well as detailed analysis of building and facility use, historic patterns, land use, program accommodation, sustainability and other areas. The process is intended to give all stakeholders — students, faculty, staff, and others — multiple opportunities to contribute ideas and feedback.
You can send ideas to masterplan2024@ku.edu for indoor and outdoor spaces you would like to see included in the 2024 Campus Master Plan.
