Supporting minds, creating futures

Space Management

Space Management works with campus units to ensure buildings and physical spaces within buildings are planned, maintained and managed in a way that supports KU’s academic and research missions. Our focus is on:

  • Comfortable, efficient and productive work environments for faculty and staff
  • Classrooms and learning spaces that promote collaborative scholarship and academic success
  • Research facilities that support innovation and discovery

Space management collects and maintains accurate building and space data, including drawings, floor plans, room capacity data, classification, and space assignments, etc., to help leaders make strategic and operation decisions that are in the best interest of the university and campus units.

Space Management responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the physical space inventory and floor plans for all university facilities
  • Provide reports and data to university leaders and decision makers
  • Work with campus partners to conduct space analyses to accurately reflect best use of facilities and physical spaces
  • Advise KU leaders on space policy, procedures, and federal, state and institutional guidelines
